Digital art comissions & exhibition curation - 2015
Studio 13-16 is a youth-focused initiative hosted within the legendary Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. But despite, being designed for yougner audiences, the space never actually had featured works from younger talents.
From this point, when we were reached by the Centre's team to propose a cycle resonating with architecture, I took the stance to focus both on digital creation and teenager talents. This is how we started an exploratory digital commission, within the incredibly vast Minecraft architects community.
Among all astonnishingly talented enthousiasts, two particular self-organized crews got our attention, teams Lyrah and New Heaven
Excited to be recognized for their talent and effort, each team took the challenge to reproduce 3 major architectural references each, among which Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, Tour Tolbiac and Villa Savoye. And the results were simply breathtaking.
The whole exhibition evolved around freely explorable versions of each commission, directly from Minecraft sessions. And for the first time in a contemporary art museum, I witnessed young children explaining with their words, the hows ans whys of an artwork to their parents.
