Doris is the very first projet I had the chance to lead at Bright Studio in the end of 2014. Cool people from Twitter kindly asked us to imagine an interactive installation based on Twitter data & bots, aimed to be presented at the Saint-Fiacre a very unique space in Paris, during one of their evnts.
We reached out to UK Artist Brendan Dawes, whom data and interactivion work had been really inspiring for quite a while. He liked our initial research and thoughts and we got to it!
The idea consisted in an installation that could be activated by anyone from the audience, sending a tweet to our bot @Dorislebot. Each account doing so was scanned for public data (followings, followers, number of retweets favs, etc). This data was turned into unique, low-poly fishes whom shapes, color and behaviour depended on their user's data. Each new fish would join the tank and behave folowing its social traits : influencers had a tendency to lead and attract others, for example.
Going beyond the initial scope of the project, Brendan pushed the idea event further by 3D printing a selection of the most adorable creatures.
Despite not truly being a website, the project was awarded a FWA on Febuary 16th of 2015
